Michigan the Beeeeyoootiful

Michigan is so beautiful. Seriously. If I could fix all the auto industry economy crap and tone the winter down a notch this place would be perfect. My parents and 3 sisters came for a little vaycay last week. We had the best time. I loved showing my sisters around EL and staying up late with them. It's no Vegas here, but I've grown to appreciate quirks and charm of our little college town.

We spent a few days on Mackinaw Island which was pretty much amazing. We ate a ridiculous amount of fudge. For some reason fudge is the "thing" there. The island smells like fudge, there are fudge samples everywhere you go, and a fudge shop was attached to our hotel (we may or may not have stopped in ever time we walked by).

We headed to Cedar Point on Thursday and rode some crazy roller coasters. I'm pretty sure the cast of 16 and pregnant and trick my trailer were there- welcome to Ohio! It's no Disney World, but if like your body to be tossed around at 120 miles an hour it's totally for you! Benson even got to ride the train and the classic cars. He totally loved it- and all of the attention. After they left every time I set him down he kept looking around for his fan club.

Benson turned 5 months on June 30th. He newest tricks include shrieking when he's really happy (preferably in quiet restaurants), grabbing his toes and trying to eat them, eating anything he can get his hands on, rolling over, taking out his bink and trying to put it back in but failing, so he wants us to put it in (repeat 500 times). He getting so big, so fun, and we're so happy.

I just had my first Fourth of July ever without my family. Of course our friends here made it so fun and so memorable. We had a little backyard barbecue complete with kiddie pools, tie dying, and fireworks on Saturday and a pretty incredible fireworks show at the Ingham County Fairgrounds on Sunday. I was worried about Benson getting scared, but who am I kidding? This kid thrives on loud, chaos, and staying up late! He sat and Brandon's lap and stared at the sky.

We leave on Friday to go home for the rest of the summer. I'm dreading the heat, but excited for a little break, the beach, and spending time with our families.
