Lookin' to Score

Some of the boys from Brandon’s law school thought it would be a good idea to start an intramural football team. I was immediately concerned. These are guys who are on average 25 years old, live in the library, and would fall in to the “smart” vs. “athletic” category. Brandon was hesitant about me attending his first game, but I showed up anyway (I was not going to miss it). Let’s just say the new goal is to score once before the season is over. Bless their hearts.

A Reoccurring Theme

We had a great time this weekend. A friend organized karaoke in the basement of a sketchy Mexican restaurant on Friday night and it ended up being hilariously fun. I'm one for ambiance and this place had it!

Saturday the J. Reuben Clark Law Society had a social at Uncle Johns Cider Mill. I love doing "midwesternie" things and this place hit the spot. They make homemade cider and doughnuts and had a massive corn maze that we cheated our way through.

It was so awesome to meet two guys that served the SAME mission as Brandon (Texas, San Antonio) and who both have the same love for Rudy's Barbecue Sauce. It's also fortunate that one of them owns a smoker and we snagged an invite to Sunday dinner (thanks guys, the brisket was awesome)!

Now for the bad news (and reoccurring theme).

Whenever we hang out with people here the conversation always turns to winter, which I'm terrified of. Apparently I have good reason to be, because what I've gathered so far is it's the worst cold you've ever felt, the wind makes it unbearable, the roads aren't plowed, it jacks up your car, you get the picture... I'm not excited.

I am excited about these cute boots I purchased:

I realize I'm too old to wear Roxy and the the only thing I can wear them with is jeans and a hoodie, but they're lined with fur and I can't wait to try them out in the crazy cold, probably gonna die, Michigan winter.

Our New Digs

I FINALLY finished unpacking. My long lost husband still has a few pictures to hang for me, but I would say we’re pretty much settled. We found a great place to live. It’s an old converted motor wheel factory and it has tons of character and great original details. One of my favorite parts is this awesome pipe work right above our front door:

We even have a guest room (which is also known as "The Cave" where Brandon studies for hours on end) for those of you that are dying to take a trip to Lansing, MI:

The living room:

My "office" (that is supposed to be a dining room):

The kitchen:

Bed and Bath:

Thanks to my first house guests for hanging out tonight (and to their husbands for not being mad I kept them out past midnight). Let's do it again soon!

100 Calorie Goodness

When I grocery shop I prefer to go up and down every single aisle. I have a list, but I don't want to miss anything new and exciting. Yesterday, I came across these:

I consider myself a 100 calorie pack connoisseur. I think I've tried all the varieties, and these did not disappoint. Oddly, they're on the breakfast aisle. Personally I don't think cheesecake should be consumed before 11:00 a.m. but regardless, you should try them.

Our New Love

We put some of our student loan money to good use and are now proud MSU football season ticket holders. As you may or may not know, the Spartans were victorious over Notre Dame yesterday, 23-7. The games provide endless entertainment, from the tipsy tailgaters to the awesome t-shirts. Here are my t-shirt winners from yesterday:

Unfortunately I failed to get a picture of the drunk girl that fell down the bleachers and the cops carrying her out. I did however get a picture of the team with their trophy and the talented MSU marching band:

Go Spartans!

Just Do It

I've been working on this thing for months. Tonight I'm committed...I'm actually going to post. This blog is born at the start of a new adventure. We just moved from Las Vegas to Lansing where Brandon will be a 1L at MSU College of Law. So far, so good. We miss our families like crazy, but we wouldn't trade this experience for anything.
